O-I Forms University R&D Partnership

O-I has signed a three year agreement with the University of Toledo College of Engineering, Chemical & Environmental Engineering Department, to support research at O-Is new R&D Innovation Centre. The new centre is set to be completed by autumn 2013. It will produce sample glass containers using new manufacturing technologies and product designs being tested by the company. The agreement covers salary and fees for graduate research assistance to partner with O-I scientists and engineers. It also covers the purchase of equipment specific to characterise glass, and fees to use UT's equipment, including x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy instruments.
