O-I Completes Italian Investment

A 55m/Euros investment has been completed by O-I at the company's San Polo facility in Italy. To support the local beer and non-alcoholic beverage markets, O-I invested in a 40m/Euro furnace, four production lines, and state-of-the-art inspection equipment in 2014. The expansion resulted in the creation of 30 jobs. This investment complements the 15m/Euro spent in 2011 to upgrade one furnace and production lines. The improved production at San Polo incorporate the latest sustainability technologies, resulting in a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions. The plant can use up to 90% recycled glass in its production process and offers increased capabilities to produce lightweight containers.
