Norman & Underwood Seeks Opportunities

Norman & Underwood's Glass Products Division is actively seeking acquisition, joint venture & merger opportunities in the flat glass market place. The Leicester-based, privately owned firm is keen to talk with businesses whose flat glass operations are either larger or of a similar size to its own. Location is said to be not important. Bob Savage, Group CE comments, "In the past 3 years, the structure of the flat glass industry has gone from high growth, high margin to zero growth and gross over capacity. The impact of soaring energy costs, Part L and EN1279 compliance requirements, small batch sizes and short lead times has increased operating costs at a time when prices & margins are falling. N&U recognises the UK's flat glass market is under intense pressure & has decided to adopt a proactive strategy by playing an active part in this necessary process."
