No Hold Up For Jams

Premier Foods, Chivers Hartley Division of Cambridge has specified a Kosme Merkur modular labeller for high-speed labelling of its jam & preserves. The labeller, initailly set up for wet glue label application, has replaced a competitor machine, which Premier says was "unable to maintain the production standards we set." The system needed to be able to apply both body & back patch labels, with an optional "lollipop" label where the tag is secured beneath the body label to provide tamper-evidence. The main brand bespoke-designed glass jar has circular rims top & bottom, encompassing a non-symmetrical oval body shape. Mechanical pack orientation is neccessary for accurate label placement, accommodated via base notch orientation, with a throughput of 500 containers per minute achieved.
