Japan's Nippon Electric Glass has increased the width and reduced the thickness of its glass ribbon. The Otsu, Shira-based group said it had increased the width to 20mm and reduced the thickness to 4um, which it said was the widest and thinnest glass ribbon in the world. NEG said it would help accelerate the development of applications in electronics, displays, medical care and optics. It has also been used as a microchip components at a research site.
