[Nigeria] New Glass Plants Proposed For Coal-Based Industrial Zone

New glass plants are proposed as part of the development of a new coalfield and electricity generating operation proposed by a consortium called the Coal-to-Power group. The consortium plans to exploit the Okaba coal field in Nigeria's Kogi state and set up 9 electricity generating stations to help overcome Nigeria's ongoing power shortages. Glassmaking is among a range of energy-intensive industries that are being targeted as potential investors in new industrial plants in the region. The consortium is made up of the Nigerian company Western Goldfields; the Dutch finance company ITOI; and the Chinese company Sino-Coal.
