Next Generation Glass Enamel Sets High Standards

The motor industry is gearing up towards the next millennium. New car concepts, such as the smart car, are being launched and designers are using curved shapes for aesthetic reasons, as well as to reduce fuel consumption. A new generation of glass enamels has been developed by Johnson Matthey Glass to comply with higher technical requirements. The product range is known as Neutral Black because of its consistency in colour, and it is now ready for market launch. The R & D team set out to develop a product which had opacity, non-stick and silver hiding properties. Neutral Black has been developed in close cooperation with major automotive glass decorators and this has resulted in a new generation of glass enamels which are heavy-metal free with excellent application and firing characteristics.
