The Materials & Articles in Contact with Food Regulations 2005 SI 2005/898 came into force on 29/4/05 which revoke the Materials & Articles in Contact with Food Regulations 1987 & re-enact certain provisions contained in those Regulations. They also provide for the enforcement of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 on Materials & Articles Intended to come into Contact with Food. Thus, they re-enact the provisions of the 1987 Regulations relating to vinyl chloride & re-enact with amendments the provisions of the 1987 Regulations relating to regenerated cellulose film. Regulation 1935/2004 is a framework Regulation on Materials & Articles in Contact with Food, which replaces Directives 80/590/EEC and 89/109/EEC which were implemented by the 1987 Regulations.
