New Trends In The Mechanical Processing Of Flat Glass Surface (In Czech)

This article presents new and unique technology of the flat-glass matting process, based on mechanical erosion of surface layers by composite filaments of cylindrical brush. This technology has a high application potential and allows the creation of new product types widely applicable to housing architecture, interiors, furniture, lighting technology and domestic accessories. By modification of technological conditions, it is possible to produce all-over matted surfaces as well as patterns with different depth of structure. The mechanical way of glass matting, compared with conventional methods avoids the disposal of chemical waste and significantly reduces the need for operation and working space. This article describes theoretical solutions of this new matting principle and focuses on a conception of a matting device and summarises initial results of the research. Finally, application possibilities of flat glass are analysed with the use of numerical simulation. The analysis of interior application of clear and matted flat glass in railing systems is examined according to physical and safety properties.
