A New Silica Sand Plant: Two Domes In The North African Desert

The Italian company Gruppo Minerali Maffei recently carried out an important project to exploit silica sand from a quarry located in Tunisia, very close to the North African desert. The preliminary research started some years ago and, after an accurate and detailed survey, the company built a plant where the raw material is processed to obtain good sand for the flat sand container glass industries. The whole logistic chain to deliver the sand to Italy and other countries by ship was also developed to ensure the best quality of the product by minimising risks of contamination.
