New Scientific Hypothesis On The Structure Of Glass

A new scientific hypothesis on the structure of glass is presented. According to this hypothesis, the structure of glass is nonuniform over the thickness of a glass sheet and consists of dense silicon-oxide formations arranged in an amorphous, less dense medium of alkali oxides, and the glass fractures along the contact of dense formations with the amorphous medium. This hypothesis made it possible to develop a new theory for the strength of glass. The proposed scientific hypothesis has passed an international experts’ examination and has been recorded in the state register of new discoveries.
