Industrial laser glass machining has always been an unsolved issue - only high power CO2 or Nd:YAG laser pulses can mark glass and they cause thermal damage around the machined area in the form of micro cracks, bubbles... As for excimer lasers, they can achieve drilling or cutting operations, but at unrealistic speeds for industrial needs. This article looks at a new laser produced by Thales Laser, called Bright, a new compact industrial femtosecond laser.
