New Furnace For Vetropack

Vetropack is building a new furnace at its St Prex glass container plant in Switzerland as part of a CHF 36M investment that has also seen three new warehouses and a new waste glass processing plant. Production is being stopped for three months but the company has already built up stocks of bottles to keep its customers supplied during the stoppage. The new furnace is due to be commissioned on May 8/06. CO2 emissions will be cut by 30% and Vetropack expects to be exempt from the Swiss government's carbon levy as a result. The company also has glass plants in Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Croatia.
