New Drivers In Oxy Combustion For Glass Melting And Glass Conditioning

The start of the Kyoto Agreement and the consequent introduction of CO2 quotas was almost simultaneous with a large increase in fossil fuel energy costs. These two items have a great impact on an energy intensive industry such as the glass manufacturing sector. Moreover, it is hard to increase performance of traditional technologies as they have been well studied & optimised and only some small adjustments can be obtained adapting the design to new economic parameters. Oxy combustion, on the contrary, is a "young" technology and can be improved and optimised, as shown in this article.
