Dr Tsutomu Futagami, Technical Manager for Nippon Electric Glass, outlined the critical aspects of glass and glass preparation for the proper storage of pharmaceutical substances. Hydrolytic resistance, best measured by the release of alkali ions from glass, was highlighted as a critical factor influencing a drug's stability profile. Dr Futagami went on to show how Type 1 Borosilicate Glass best meets the requirments of the pharmaceutical industry.
