[Netherlands] Handling Fee For [Plastic] Drinks Packaging

Manufacturers will now be subject to a handling fee of Euro 0.0525/single-use plastic bottle not returned in a crate, dolly tray or tray (so-called additional returnable packaging - VBR) The manufacturer/importer may delegate payment to an organisation that deals with logistical and financial matters on his behalf. He must in that case also transfer fees received to that organisation. The aim of the amendment is to introduce a handling fee for returnable packaging for single use plastic bottles for soft drinks or water put on the market with a deposit. From 2007 these bottles will be sold without a crate or tray. The current regulation on VBR provides solely for supply via crates or trays.
