Nanotechnologies And Glass

Nanotechnologies are currently defined as the processes and/or studies concerning the manufacturing, characterisation & use of particles, molecular groups or layers within a few tens of nanometers in size. SSV has performed numerous nanotechnological studies in several fields to improve the knowledge on subjects of interest to the international glass industry. Italian glass production (hollow, flat, artistic & technical glass) are based on well-known processes, which are normally regarded as technologically mature, without any special new advancement. Nevertheless, for particular purposes it may be necessary to employ sophisticated analyses & characterisation methods that require even nanotechnological investigations.
