Nanofilm Move Into Windshield Coating Market

Nanofilm Ltd. is planning a move into the automotive market & has launched a new product that the company says does for the windshield what Teflon did for the frying pan. In early Dec/04, Nanofilm began selling through Amazon.com the Clarity Defender Auto Glass Treatment, which it has developed to repel rain, snow, mud, bugs, bird droppings, spray paint & most other liquids that could come in contact with a windshield, said Nanofilm president. The Clarity Defender enters a market already occupied by similar products that sell for far less than its USD 14.95 retail price. PPG Industries makes a product called Aquapel, which sells at USD 4.50, while Rain X by Sopus Products retails for USD 6.29. However, Mr. Rickert claimed that the polymer used to make Clarity Defender means one application lasts a year, compared to others which last only a few months.
