Multicomponent Gas Bubbles. Part 2. Bubble Dynamics

The growth of rising gas bubbles in soda-lime glass melts is analysed by means of a lumped parameter which accounts for the surface tension. The calculations indicated that for melt temperatures above 1400 degrees C gas bubbles migrate to the surface but for lower temperatures mass transfer affects bubble dynamics and refining agents may be needed to cause bubble dissolution or growth by chemical reaction.
