Modular Melting: Industrial Glassmelting Process Requirements Part 2

Part 1 of this article appeared earlier in the year and provided a brief analysis of the most essential process steps in industrial glass conversion from batch to homogeneous glass melt. The essential steps in this conversion are: batch heating, sand grain dissolution, gas bubble removal and homogenisation. Part 2 of this article summarises the requirements for each step and presents some examples and recommendations of alternative melting processes.
