The objective of this paper is to discuss an expert system model-based methodology for optimised design, operation and control for an intensive exploitation of high temperature industrial equipment, especially glass-melting furnaces. The expert system model based methodology to be proposed is based in an innovative integration of physically based and model based knowledge with advanced optimisation algorithms. These predictive capacity system gives the possibility of operation optimisation and of design optimisation.
