Modelling Furnace Design

Horn Glass Industries is a leading international glass melting furnace supplier for the production of all types of glass. In 2000 Horn became probably the first German furnace supplier to develop designs using a computer-based modelling programme, due to increasing demand for complex solutions based on economics and the efficiency of glass melting furnaces. Since then, many furnaces have been modelled using this system from Glass Service, giving Horn the knowledge to provide optimised furnaces for the worldwide glass industry. In this paper, the authors relate the experience of a furnace design company in using computer-based modelling software.
