Evaluation of the infrared absorbence spectra of several series of ultraphosphate glasses by principal component analysis was improved using a unique measure of the number of the principal components for the four systems. Three principal components are obtained even for the system of calcium and the model of the formation of the structure of the phosphate glasses by the substructures of crystalline, congruent melting ultraphosphates and metaphosphates is confirmed. But the model is not valid for vitreous P205 as before. Here a contrary model is used to explain the experimental results. It is a random network concerning the distribution of cations and PO4 tetrahedra.
