Minority Shareholders In Takeover Battle For Krosno

According to Parkeit, a group of individual shareholders in Poland's KHS Krosno glass are planning to take control of the firm. At present they control over 10% capital & are continuing to acquire shares & will shortly register themselves as a Minority Investor Association. "We want to summon a general shareholders meeting & replace the supervisory board. Our aim is to restructure Krosno & make it profitable again. In less than 2 weeks, our presence in the company should exceed 20%", said the prospective head of the association Pawel Kicinski. On 2 Feb/09 a representative of the minority investors filed a complaint at the Warsaw Prosecutor's Office against the glass works' largest shareholder, Zdzislaw Sawicki. Mr. Sawicki is alleged to have used privileged information to sell a stake of over 30% in Krosno before it revealed its problems with currency options.
