Microfloat Technology - A New Challenge For The Production Of High Tech Borosilicate Flat Glasses

Since the days of Otto Schott, the development of borosilicate glass has been a continously proceeding process to achieve higher quality and efficiency in special glass production that offers new potentials in the special glass application field. Because of its inexhaustible possibilites of compositional variations, special borosilicate glasses can meet extraordianry properites. This paper looks at the partnership between Schott and Asahi and the development of microfloat technology.
