Italy's Stevanato Group inaugurated its new manufacturing facility for glass containers near Monterrey, Mexico on 24 October 2008. The investment totalled Euros 37M. The Ompi of Americas plant will make glass bottles & vials for the American market. In a communique, the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDEC) of Nuevo Leon reported 23 October 2008 that the new factory will generate 260 direct jobs in the state in its first stage. Located in the Ciénega Flores National Industrial Park, at full capacity, production will reach 370M glass bottles & 160M vials. Stevanato Group, established in Italy in 1949, is currently among the top three global producers of glass containers from glass tubing for the pharmaceutical industry.
