[Mexico] Glass Is Back As Vitro'S Sales Increase

Mexican glassmaker, Vitro, has supplied 750ml glass bottles for Lala milk, bringing glass packaging for dairy products back into focus. Lala milk in a glass bottle, is now available in Monterrey and Guadalajara and can be purchased in a number of stores. "More and more consumers are interested in purchasing products that are environmentally friendly," said Gerado Gebara who is responsible for regional marketing in NE Mexico for Vitro's glass container business unit. "Glass is 100% recyclable and the glass milk bottles do not alter flavours, aromas or the characteristics of the contents." Meanwhile, Vitro has reported an increase of 7.1% in year-on-year consolidated net sales in its third quarter results for 2007.
