Method And Apparatus For Producing Float Glasss Utilising A Condensing Surface

The plenum chamber above a molten metal bath is provided with a collecting surface, in the form of a suspended convex ceiling, for condensing metal evaporating from the exposed portions of the metal bath dripping from the ceiling of the chamber. The metal, as it agglomerate, is directed away from the area of the floating glass ribbon and is allowed to drip back into the exposed areas of the bath.
