Metallic Glass - Tougher Than Steel

Glass is not necessarily made of silica, lime and other minerals. It can be made of metals, and such glass, stronger than steel, would be suitable for a large number of innovative applications. For example, as metallic glasses have very low coefficients of friction they could be used for making machines that run without any lubrication, according to this paper which was first published in The Economist, 12th February 1995.
