[Melting] Glass Defect Diagnosis

In this article, the authors discuss the need for an accurate approach to the diagnosis and solution of glass defect problems. Post mortem analysis of glass tanks can often show the sources of refractory-related glass defects, which in turn can lead to design and material improvements to reduce the source of these types of glass defects. This end of lifetime analysis can also show some of the flows in the glass tank. Images of these flows can be compared with the flow predicted from glass furnace models and used for verification of the models and fine tuning of parameters.
