According to the authors, furnace no five at the Wiegand-Glas Steinbach am Wald factory in Germany operates continuously at a specific energy consumption lower than the long sought-after benchmark value of three Gigajoules (GJ) per ton of glass, while the seed count is only 40-50 seeds per 100g glass.
