Mechanical Properties Of Glass Fibres Containing Aluminium Dispersoids

Glass fibres containing up to 7.5 at% Al have been made using ceramic bushings. The presence of the aluminium particles increases the Young's modulus of the fibres but decreases the strength since the particles act as stress concentrators within the glass matrix.
