Measuring The Inert Strength Of Large Flaws In Optical Fibre

A ratio of inert to ambient strength >1.5 is suggested for large flaws in optical fibre near the proof stress level. Also, a temperature dependent strength at low temperatures, similar to that observed in pristine fibres, was investigated.
