Measurement Of Elevations In A Float Glass Facility

A method of redetermining the relative elevations of structural components of an operating float glass facility, wherein a glass ribbon is formed on a bath of molten metal independently of the elevation of the original construction reference point by which they were installed, including the steps of determining the vertical position of the surface of said bath of molten metal to establish said surface as a new reference plane, observing the vertical position of one of said structural components , and measuring the difference between the vertical position of said structural component and said surface to thereby determine the elevation of said structural component relative to said surface.
