Northern Ireland-based crystal maker, Tyrone Crystal, has been bought out by senior executives. Three members of the Tipperary Lifeware Group, with help from Invest Northern Ireland, purchased the company for an undisclosed sum. With a collective 30 years experience in the industry, Peter Nunn, MD, Paul Donnelly, Commercial Director, and Tom Williamson, Financial Director, plan to build on the heritage and skill behind the Tyrone brand to introduce a more contemporary look, as well as continue the existing, more traditional collections. The company, founded in 1971, and employing around 100 people, was bought by Tipperary Lifeware for £6M in July 2000. Tipperary Lifeware has also put the Tipperary Crystal and Louise Kennedy brands on the market, both of which remain unsold, at this time.
