Market Review 2001-2005

Market research carried out by MBD reveals that while the UK market has been down, there are forecasts of a recovery. The UK domestic market for the door, frame and window frame sector (incl conservatories) is believed to have declined by a further 2% to £3802M in 2005. New construction activity & repair/maintenance activity in both the public & private housing sectors has also slowed in comparison to the growth levels recorded in previous years. The direct sales market has been worse hit by the economic slowdown. However, the builders/contractors market is believed to have increased. Furthermore, the government's "Decent Homes" plan to bring all social housing into good condition by 2010 includes projects for window & door replacements. Growth is anticipated to return over the forecast period of 2006-2010. Contact: MBD on tel: 0161 247 8600
