Over the last three years, manganese ore production has declined as a result of decreased demand from the steel industry, which consumes some 90% of output worldwide. Over this time, prices have also fallen. Despite this considerable fall-off in production and prices, the non-metallurgical markets for manganese remain fairly strong. This article review the world's major producers of manganese or and looks at the various non-metallurgical markets which it serves.
