[Malaysia] Massive Promotion Of "Green" Projects

Malaysia's Prime Minister as dedicated himself to green technology. Immediately following two government programmes to promote renewable energy industries, there is now a new, important initiative: a new law which in future will ensure the introduction of a feed-in agreement to the national grid for renewable energy with legally guaranteed prices. Businesses dealing in renewables will be designated "Pioneer Industries" and will receive tax benefits for 10 years, or alternatively, will be able to reduce their tax to "zero" through special write-offs. In the past, green initiatives have largely failed in Malaysia because their costs were borne by the industry alone. With the advent of the planned legislation, Malaysia is providing the necessary incentives for private companies to get involved in green technology.
