[Malaysia] F&N Sells Its Glass Business

Malaysian soft drink bottler Fraser & Neave Holdings has divested its glass business, Malaysia Glass Products, for strategic reasons, leaving it free to focus on further development of its food and beverage operations. It also has extensive land holdings. The glass production facilities of Malaysia Glass, which includes plants in China, Thailand and Vietnam as well as Malaysia, have been bought for US$221.7M by a new JV formed by Thailand's Berli Jucker Public Company (BJC) and ACI International, an Australian-based wholly-owned subsidiary of O-I, the world's largest maker of glass packaging. BJC, incorporated in Thailand in 1882, is a major producer and distributor of consumer goods in Asia. It is active in glass manufacturing through its subsidiary, Thai Glass Industries.
