The domestic, borosilicate and specialist glass makers in the UK have recently been the subjects of a study into their energy consumption and environmental performance. Two guides have been produced indicating potential energy savings and benchmarkes for profitable environmental improvement. To launch the two publications ETSU hald a one day meeting for glass makers in the North West at Philips Components, Simonstone, Burnley. Invited speakers covered energy and environmental management systems, practical means of reducing costs and waste, financial appraisal of technology as well as an overview of the survey findings.
