Making An Impression On Glass

Under new EU regulations from October 2006, full traceability is now required for all materials & articles that come into contact with food. This means companies need to have systems in place that link every area of the supply chain in order to allow easy identification of the businesses from which, & to which, materials, articles, substances & products are supplied. If there are any issues with packaging, the food company needs to be able to pinpoint exactly which supplier the pack came from. Likewise, that supplier must know the source of supply for the raw materials used in the packs manufacture. The new regulations regarding traceability for food packaging underline the importance of having an effective & workable system in place and may also see an increase in the coding of individual containers & bottles by glass packaging manufacturers & fillers.
