The Machinery Behind St George'S Re-Invention

At one time, St George Glass had 7 branches around the N West. Founded by jack Bennetts in 1948, it was one of the first UK processors to invest in machinery. Today, proprietor Steve Bennetts, grandson of Jack, has re-invented the firm as a group with two manageable businesses: a bespoke glass processor in Leigh, Bedford Glass, and the St George Glass bespoke IG unit operation in Bolton. Specialising in processes that used to be done by hand, but are now automated - there being a limited number of companies with this machinery in the UK. The firm has become a popular supplier for decorative processes and the non-standard items that larger processors and IG manufacturers are not geared to supply cost effectively.
