Low-Cost Stirrer Physical Modeling In Quarter-Scale

Glass stirring applications, because of their complexity, have resisted traditional mathematical modeling techniques. A powerful tool for understanding stirring has been full-scale physical modeling using oil as the model fluid. However, full-scale modeling is very expensive, is generally time-consuming, and requires sophisticated and dedicated facilities. Quarter-scale oil modeling has been found to provide the advantages of visulalization and stirring effectiveness evaluation with a significant reduction of cost and modeling time compared with full-scale models. The scaling criteria, model design, and limitations for quarter-scale modeling are discussed.
