Looking Out On A Noisy World

Noise can be a nuisance. Sometimes there seems to be no escape from the sounds of road traffic, trains, aircraft, factories, bars and clubs, mobile phones or neighbours. Noise can impair work performance and, in extreme cases contribute to illness, both physical and psychological. Glass, and in particular the right type of glass, can play an important role in attenuating outside noise so that building occupants are not unduly disturbed. This may involve specifying thick glass, laminated glass, insulating glass units and special types of glass with dedicated acoustic performance.
