Austrian cut crystal manufacturer Swarovski, announced at the beginning of November 2009 that it has decided to stop manufacturing in Lithuania after 8 years. The liquidation of Swarovski's subsidiary, Crystal Creations, is expected to be finalised by December 2009. According to Director of Corporate Communications Matthias Neeff, retail trade in jewellery will not undergo any changes after the suspension of the company's operations in Lithuania. At present, Swarovski products are now being marketed by authorised traders in 8 stores in the country. Mr Neeff also said that the 39 employees of the company in Lithuania would receive compensation.
