Research has shown that 2.65M/tonnes of glass entered the UK waste stream in 2007, with 2.2M/tonnes of this arising from the beverage sector alone. With increasing pressure to reduce raw material use and energy costs, many companies have been embarking on packaging reduction commitments and looking to glass lightweighting as a potential solution. In this article, the UK's Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) explains how collaborative projects are encouraging more and more producers to go lightweight.
