Libbey Repurchases Stock

Tableware producer Libbey Inc, announced in December/02 that the Board of Directors has authorised buying back as many as an additional 2.5m shares of the company's common stock in open market and negotiated purchases. Libbey also announced that it had completed a previous board authorisation to repurchase 1M shares. This included the repurchase of 935,600 shares in 2002 for US $26.8M. As of 9 December, 2002, Libbey had over 14M shares outstanding. The company said the scheduling of any share repurchases will depend on market conditions and repurchases will be in amounts as judged advisable.
