Libbey Acquires Royal Leerdam

Libbey Inc of the US has acquired the Dutch crystal glassmaker Royal Leerdam from the glass container group BSN Glasspack. The US group has also created a new international operations function to manage Royal Leerdam; the Vitrocrisa joint venture in Mexico; export sales; international technology arrangements; and international expansion. The new function is headed by Kenneth G wilkes, Libbey's chief financial officer. Libbey is a leading producer of glass tableware.
