Work at the P.N. Lebedev Physical Institure on hollow microsphere technology started more than twenty years ago. New methods of hollow shell fabrication have been produced using a complex of universal installations for making shells of polymers, glass and metals; equipment for shell characterisation; and employing mathematical modeling of shell formation processes. Using these facilities and methods, the physical process involved in the various hollow microsphere fabrication regimes are studied both experimentally and theoretically.
