Ceramic tableware is a closely related industry to glass crystal production in that lead has been a widely used material. Many of the pressures facing crystal producers are common to ceramic manufacturers. Increasingly, pressure is for removal of lead from tableware. This paper reivews the development of these pressures and how the UK industry is meeting the challenge.
